[Special Topic] Best Music Games for Android

Your smartphone already doubles as a dependable music player right out of the box, and the bevy of music game apps out there make it even better. Whether you want unlimited access to dance pad or want to turn your device into a rhythm section, there’s no shortage of mobile apps that will get the job done. From Tap Tap Revenge 4 to Santa Rockstar , here are our 10 favorite music/rhythm game apps for your smartphone or tablet.

Tap Tap Revenge 4
Tap Tap Revenge – a game originally based on the arcade classic Dance Dance Revolution, is back. Now in its fourth incarnation for Android, this popular tap-to-the-rhythm game from Tapulous offers fans of the series access to over 100 free tracks, retina graphics and social features aplenty.

Cytus
Cytus may seem simple, but it has high replayibility. It is definitely placed in my 'top 5' best musical rhythm games, and I'm sure it'll have it's position in that list for a long time. For the gamers looking to get into musical games, this game is definitely one to look at.

Beats, Advanced Rhythm Game
The controls are amazing and the game play is great. It supports multi touch so you don’t miss the double steps at one time. There is access to 2 songs on initial download with a huge amount of settings from changing the fall rate of the steps to difficulty level and even how many health points you lose when you miss a step. The developer even lets you adjust the the music if there is lag on the phone to sync it up correctly. It looks like the developer put a lot of thought into this application.

Piano Holic(rhythm game)-free
The piano holic will provide you the best quality of sound and pleasure you've never experienced before. You can play about more than 150 songs at each level, such as child songs and famous classics for all player from beginner to professional.(Continuous updating)Even though you are unable to read the score, the note will guide you to play without the score.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.cherry.pianist

Music Hero
If there’s one thing that would make the Music Hero app unique, it’s the option for loading the songs that you have stored inside your phone. This particular feature would give you the chance to play the game while listening to a song that you like. However, the notes or beats does not seem to sync well with custom songs. It can be observed that the discs will just appear in random.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.wordsmobile.musichero

O2Jam U by MOMO
I found O2Jam U to be a fun little music game. There are enough initial points to sample all the songs, and the decent amount of options ensures some replayability. Song selection may be a bit sparse, but that can easily be fixed with future support. There are some folks that will find the network requirement and performance issues to be deal breakers, but for everyone else, O2Jam U is worth at least a try.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.momocorp.o2jamu

TouchMix FX
TouchMix FX is clearly not aimed at entry-level players. The tracklist is unrecognizable and won’t pull in music fans whose favorite band might be in the mix. In addition, the difficulty starts hard and just escalates from there. It’s a lot of fun once you buy the full game, but it’s really only for people that have been playing rhythm games for a while now.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gamevil.tmfx.global

RockStar
RockStar dreams to become a new power of rhythm game with strong rock sound, fabulous effect, and brilliant touch! RockStar is a beat game of new concept that we tap touch box in fun rhythm. You can enjoy more lively and fun game with various stylish effects according to result of touch.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.jse.RockStarAMFreeGlobal

TunesHolic
Simple in a sense, but let me tell you this – basic gaming skills aren’t enough to master this game, for exceptional talent on hand and eye coordination and impressive reaction time are both needed to be at a competitive level with other players. So if you think you’re that good then why not test this game out and see for yourself.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.smartplayland.tunesholic

Santa Rockstar
If you like rock, or Christmas, or rhythm-action games, then Santa Rockstar has something for you to get your Android gaming teeth into. It might be a little shallow, and its unlikely you'll still be playing come February, but it's an entertaining diversion all the same.

[Special Topic] Best Reader Apps

Printed books are far from dead and with the introduction of portable ebook readers and apps, reading has become more popular than ever. The ability to take a multitude of ebooks in one device, rather than require a lorry to follow you everywhere with the printed equivalent, is truly amazing. So, let's begin our journey by looking at some of the best freeware ebook apps available for Android.

Aldiko Book Reader
Aldiko is an ebook reader application that runs on any Android device. With Aldiko, you can build and organize your digital library, read on the go and wirelessly browse and download from a broad range of digital publications right on your Android device.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.aldiko.android

FBReader
FBReader is an open-source e-book reader for various platforms. It can read more formats than any other e-reader, including ePub, mobi, fb2, html, txt and pdb. It properly hyphenates text in 13 languages (including Chinese and Russian), in any encoding, accepts text in compressed formats (eg, zip, bz2), and can rotate the page by 90, 180 or 270 degrees.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/org.geometerplus.zlibrary.ui.android

Google Play Books
Google Play Books now comes with integrated Google Translate, Wikipedia, Maps, and other resources. Google Play Books can handle all of your basic e-reading needs and then some. Just don't expect it to be capable of importing books from third-party sources. You can only use Play Books to read books bought through Google Play.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.google.android.apps.books

Goodreads

With a database of more than 12 million titles, Goodreads for Android is more than a social network for avid bookworms. It's where to go to figure out what's next on your reading list. You can keep collections of titles you want to read, review titles once you're finished and organize your reading history. Find content you might like from reading others' reviews and checking out what your friends are reading. However, the small e-book store contains just 2,000 free books.

NOOK – Read Books & Magazines
With Amazon porting its famous Kindle Reader app for Android, Barnes and Noble is doing the same thing. There’s no need for you to own a NOOK tablet, as the application runs on any Android smartphone or tablet. With over 2 million books in Barnes and Noble’s arsenal, you’ll have your very own pocketable library at your fingerprints. Optimized for Android use, the app can easily mark your favorite magazine subscriptions like US Weekly, National Geographic, and The Oprah Magazine — free for a 14-day trial period. Previous users of the NOOK tablet will feel welcomed by the app as it sports the familiar user interface that they love and adore.

Free Books & Stories - Wattpad
Wattpad is yet one more reminder that the stigma of being an unpublished author is dissipating as it allows anyone to share, read, and comment on stories and books written by fellow users. The library of content on Wattpad is impressive and growing, and the community is very active, sharing books that have been read 40,000 or more times in some categories. The result is a unique, one-of-a-kind experience for your Android.

Comics
The free (and appropriately named) Comics for Android has undergone a redesign that makes the buying and reading experience a simple and inviting endeavor, and puts it on a par with its iOS counterpart with HD support and the long-desired Fit-to-Width mode. Comics for Android is missing quite a few older books, and lacks some very cool features that are only available on the Comixology website, but comic book fans with Android devices should download this app now.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.iconology.comics

Feedly
With Google Reader officially gone, Feedly might be your best bet as an app that lets you access your RSS feeds while on the go. It looks great, works well, and offers a number of different display options that some people think make it even better than Google's departed reader. At this point, the app still isn't perfect, but with all of the work its developers are dedicating to its improvement, it has a good chance of eventually getting there.

Kobo
Read on your Smartphone...Kobo offers FREE eReading applications for the most popular smartphones. This means that you can browse, search, buy and read your favorite eBooks and download them directly to your phone at anytime.

[Special Topic] Running Games - Games like Temple Run

Temple Run fans! This page is the place where you can find the best games like Temple Run. These games are mostly running and jumping games where you are tasked to run (or jump) away from your starting point to as far as you can.

A more recent category of gaming apps pertaining to non-stop running is catching up fast with games like Temple Run offering various levels of challenges without compromising on the fun factor. Most games like Temple Run are free, monetized by attracting the players with freemium currency which makes the upgrading of the power ups very quick. App Tools has put together a list of 10 such endless running game apps that are challenging, addictive and extremely fun. Let's get you running!

Bunny Run
Bunny Run is a FREE game with addictive and exhilarating arcade gameplay. Help the cute bunny as he runs, jumps, slides and whirls through the underbrush to outrun and outmaneuver the fearsome Grizzly Bear in this high-octane chase!
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.stargirlgames.google.bunnyrun

Angry Gran Run - Running Game
Ok, so imagine an Angry Gran, running away from an “Angry Asylum”. Weird, I know. But  imagine it. Now imagine her running through the streets dodging bizarre obstacles and knocking over crowds of people whilst collecting coins. Yes, this is Angry Gran Run.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.aceviral.angrygranrun

Ninja Feet of Fury
In Ninja Feet of Fury you face the final challenge to become a full ninja. Face the perils of the bamboo forest. As the player runs through the many challenges of the forest they need to collect as many coins as possible while staying on the trail. They can use these collected coins to unlock power-ups. These power-ups give the player amazing abilities.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.ZyQuest.NinjaFeetofFury

One Epic Knight
One Epic Knight includes much of the same endless twists and turns, plenty of obstacles, and cool character customizations and upgrades, but stumbles in its ability to deliver a wholesome running experience and in making the trip to the dungeons an exciting one.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.simutronics.oneepicknight

TheEndApp
There's not much more you can do to the genre without either overcomplicating things, or turning it into something else. TheEndApp is, not to put too fine a point on it, a palette swap. It has the same mechanics as the original Temple Run, but instead of running away from angry monkeys you're sprinting through a post-apocalyptic wasteland.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/net.goroid.theend

Agent Dash
Laser beams, falling rocks and treacherous pits, three hazards you'll face in Full Fat Productions' Agent Dash, a Temple Run style running game for iOS and Android that excels because of its impressive visuals, super spy theme and a little imagination for good measure. If you enjoy cheap thrills (it's free-to-play), slip into that virtual tux, grab your silenced pistol and jump behind enemy lines.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.fullfat.android.agentdash

Rail Rush
Thanks to Temple Run’s disarming level of popularity, players can now enjoy this nightmarish genre in almost any setting imaginable, from the cookie-cutter (literally) Ginger Run to the high espionage of Agent Dash.  Miniclip’s latest release, Rail Rush, sends us to an underground mine where gold, lava, and three infinitely long sets of railroad tracks await.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.miniclip.railrush

Subway Surfers
The graphics stand out the most and the game is all fun, perfect for passing the time in the subway or before going to bed. Kiloo Games is the developer of this amazing game, Subway Surfers and other apps for Android. We highly recommend that you try it out and feel the energy coming instantly!
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.kiloo.subwaysurf

Sonic Dash 2014!
The concept for Sonic Dash isn’t something entirely new by any stretch of the imagination, but that doesn’t mean that the game has the similar copy/ paste formula that we’ve seen so much before. Sonic Dash, if you wanted to call it to anything, would be called Temple Run: Sega Edition. There are three lanes to move in and out of using finger swipes.
http://appstudo.com/index/apps/com.double1.SonicDash2014

Aby Escape
Aby Escape is split into two distinct sections - an endless-runner-style 'Unlimited' mode and a far, far more interesting 'Story' mode.Whichever way you tackle it, the game is superficially similar to the rather wondrous Temple Run insofar as your wily raccoon protagonist dashes ceaselessly into the screen while you swipe and tilt to dodge, hop over, and slide under obstacles collecting coins.

[Special Topic] Top Zombie games for Android

Who would have thought that the zombie craze will stand the test of time? It’s been years since it began and we’ve seen the movies, read the books and played the video games. Zombie isn’t a fad and it’s definitely here to stay. If you are one of those players that can’t seem to get enough of zombie games, then you’ve come to the right place. Today at App Tools, we’ll list the 10 best Android zombie games you should download and install on your devices. Everyone wants to get some piece of the action by killing those zombies, and we picked our favorites that we’re sure you’ll delight in.

Zombiewood – Zombies in L.A!
Its free, its fine tuned, has online multiplayer, and always gives you something to do, even while grinding. If a zombie themed dual-stick shooter with a healthy dose of humor appeals to you in the least, go download Zombiewood right now.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftZOHM

Stupid Zombies
Stupid Zombies is your basic time-killing puzzle game. Every lever hosts a small room occupied by a number of zombies, just standing around, and one gun-toting fighter. “Fighter” is an over statement. The man stands at the edge of the room and is unable to move anything but his arm.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameresort.stupidzombies

Zombie Smasher
Zombie Smasher is an addicting android game that will keep you hooked for hours because of its simple yet fun gameplay. In this game you have to save your town from hordes of the undead. You don’t need guns to kill Zombies, that’s so old school. All you need are your fingers to crush the zombies and put them out of their undead misery.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.moistrue.zombiesmasher

Zombie Highway
Driving and zombies are like peanut butter and jelly of gaming. No one thought about mixing them together, and when they did, everything became right in this world. Even the games with below moderate quality are somewhat awesome, if they are about driving in a car through a zombie apocalypse. Zombie Highway is exactly about that, and while it doesn’t boast with variety, it’s sufficiently interesting, and pretty well done.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.auxbrain.zombie_highway

Zombie Run HD
Zombie Run HD is a Temple Run inspired endless running game by RetroStyle Games. Players need to awaken the Zombies and escape from The Rusty Mug, a bar built on ancient aztec burial ground. Avoid obstacles such as overgrown branches and broken bridges. Compared to Temple Run, Zombie Run HD gives a whole new set of challenges for players.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.retrostylegames.ZombieRHD

Bomb The Zombies
Bomb The Zombies does actually offer a genuine challenge to the player, which is sadly quite unusual for a mobile game. Each level is essentially a basic puzzle of how to use your limited bombs or abilities to wipe out every zombie on the screen. Where this game falls down is that there are so many obfuscated mechanics, for example, how different types of material react to your bombs, that it becomes more like a case of trial and error, and luck, very quickly.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/net.netm.app.ZombieBomb

Zombie Terminator
As the zombie terminator, you must work to protect your city at all costs. Zombie Terminator has a primary adventure mode, but it also contains a side-game of slots that offers players free spins everyday. Boss battles give gamers a slew of achievements and rewards, while numerous different killing models can be chosen as you progress through the levels.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.feelingtouch.zombieterminator2

DEAD TRIGGER 2
Last year’s Dead Trigger was quite a decent game. The gameplay was fun for most parts and the graphics looked amazing for that time, or even by today’s standards, for that matter. However, the experience was sullied due to overzealous in-app purchase options that a lot of people took offense to, especially since the game was paid. Eventually the game went free, so then there were fewer reasons to complain.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.madfingergames.deadtrigger2

Zombie Diary
Zombie Diary: Survival is a fun and addicting game to play, I’ve play this game for almost 5 hours straight when I first played it, and whenever I put my device down, I can almost hear whisper in my ear saying “play me”. It is really easy to play and get into. This game is a freebie at App Tools. Happy Gaming Gamers!
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.ezjoy.feelingtouch.zombiediary

ZOMBIES ATE MY FRIENDS
In the game, you're one of several survivors in the town of Festerville, a place overrun with undead. Your job is to seek fellow survivors, do away with any zombies that get in the way and level up so you stand a chance at surviving the apocalypse.

[Special Topic] Gameloft Games

Gameloft is a video game developer and publisher headquartered in Paris, France. The company also has subsidiaries in 28 countries around the world. Gameloft develops, publishes and distributes its titles for smartphones, feature phones and tablets, as well as new digital platforms like set-top boxes, Smart TVs, and HTML5 browsers. Today, I would like to introduce some best Android games developed by Gameloft.

Despicable Me
This game is free to play with micropayments. It's a running game much like the uber popular Temple Run game. The game starts off with a cute cut scene of our favorite little yellow bad-guy sidekicks. It sets up the basis for your storyline. These minions don't just love doing their normal everyday evil assisting, but they also love getting minion of the month.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftDMHM

Ice Age Village
Ice Age Village is a peculiar case. It is very clearly an advergame for the upcoming Ice Age movie, yet it certainly doesn’t lack the quality most advergames do. Those who turn their nose up just because of the game’s intentions are missing out, for sure.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftIAHM

Gangstar City
Gangstar City is a tale of classic vigilante justice against the mob. If you’re a fan of Mack Bolan: Executioner or The Punisher, you’re going to feel right at home in Gangstar City. Unlike other mafia-themed games, your goal here isn’t to be a boss – it’s to bring one down.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftGAHM

Men In Black 3
You have to hand it to Gameloft--they could have produced yet another uninspired movie tie-in, but with Men In Black 3, they delivered an amazing experience in resource management and turn-based combat. In fact, based on early reports, you'll probably get more enjoyment out of it than the movie itself, and that's something that few tie-ins can claim.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftMBHM

Littlest Pet Shop
Get immersed in the LITTLEST PET SHOP world and collect your favorite pets!
Help BLYTHE and her friends, Minka, Penny, Pepper, Russell, Sunil, Vinnie and Zoe to adopt, take care of and entertain cute little pets!
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftPEHM

Six-Guns
Six Guns quite obviously wants to be the mobile gaming equivalent of Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar's excellent Wild West shooter. In terms of graphics it certainly hits the mark, but in a lot of other respects it falls painfully short.

GT Racing 2: The Real Car Exp
Gameloft’s GT Racing 2: The Real Car Exp comes packed with a sense of familiarity. As I sat down to play my first race, I caught myself ignoring most of the tips and guides. I hardly read anything while navigating the menus because everything was laid out in the way I expected.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftRAHM

Iron Man 3 - The Official Game
Gameloft, the company behind Iron Man 3, is no stranger to mobile based film tie-ins having crafted games based on last summer's The Dark Knight Rises and The Amazing Spider-Man. Whereas those games tried to be more traditional games emulated on a mobile platform, Iron Man 3 works the titular character into a game better suited for the platform and works all the better for it.
http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftIMHM

EPIC Battle for Moonhaven
Epic's free to play, though there are ads once you reach a certain level and there are in-app purchases to sink a battleship. Fortunately, Gameloft hasn't made that mistake its competitors did at the time and there's a disclaimer for parents at the very beginning telling how to deactivate them, lest someone pigs out of berries.

http://www.appstudo.com/index/apps/com.gameloft.android.ANMP.GloftEPHM

World at Arms
The title requires Android 2.3 and up and has you building a base and training soldiers, while also making combat vehicles and preparing for war. There are two parts of the game: the strategy/economy part where you gather resources and build stuff, plus train units and then there’s the combat, that’s basically a turn based experience.
